Conditions Treated in Our Oakley Office

In addition to “SPINE” conditions such as whiplash, disc injuries and muscle strains or joint sprains we also successfully treat many conditions not associated with the spine:

ELBOW AND WRIST PAIN

ELBOW AND WRIST PAIN

ELBOW AND WRIST PAIN

Elbow and wrist pain can come from trauma or more commonly repetitive motion such as working on a computer. It is our experience that the sooner you start treatment the better the results. Often people wait until the symptoms get so bad that what was once just wrist or elbow pain is now numbness, difficulty gripping, pain with sleeping or progressed to involve the shoulder, neck or upper back.

No matter what stage you are in the first step is to get an evaluation. Our job is to determine what the root of the problem is and then determine if our treatment is going to be effective in your case. We do this during our evaluation. In some cases we may recommend an x-ray in office. If we determine that you are a candidate for care, we can begin treatment.

We treat the neuro-musculo-skeletal system (nerves, muscles and joints). It is our philosophy (as well as that of the medical research), that you cannot strain a muscle without affecting the joint and you cannot injure a joint without affecting the muscle. Therefore, we utilize a comprehensive approach which combines specific treatments for specific injuries.

Our chiropractic treatment always includes soft tissue (massage) work to break up muscle spasms and/or scar tissue. This may include manual stretches, active/myofascial release, deep sports massage or a combination. In the case of a repetitive motion injury we find active release (a stretching massage) to be most effective.

You may receive other modalities such as cold laser which significantly speeds healing and is highly effective for this condition. We may also add electric stimulation to decrease pain, ultrasound to increase blood flow, moist heat or cold. Depending on your particular condition and lifestyle we may also prescribe kinesio tape (athletic stretch tape) or a brace.

In every case we will advise you regarding exercises, stretches and nutrition. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask.

Last, if we take your case you should expect results. Most uncomplicated cases resolve within weeks, others take longer. In rare cases we will refer out for a second opinion from an orthopedist or neurologist.
